Rank 244 by market cap
A network tuned for games: developers get cheap transactions and tooling for issuing in-game items without competing for block space with the rest of the market. The Beam token pays for those operations and takes part in governance. Games need many cheap actions and tolerate waiting badly.
The maximum supply is capped at 58.5 B BEAM.
Beam is grouped under: Smart Contract Platform, Governance.

Beam is ranked #244 by market capitalisation, at 133.02M $. Market capitalisation is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with both — a coin can climb the ranking without its price rising, simply by issuing more.
51.3 B BEAM are in circulation, which is 87.7 % of the declared maximum. The remainder enters the market on the schedule written into the protocol, and until it does, the circulating figure is what market capitalisation is computed from — not the cap.
Over the last twelve months the price of BEAM fell by 71.9 %. That is the change of the quote itself and says nothing about what comes next: crypto drawdowns of tens of percent within a year are ordinary, not exceptional.
Beam is a token issued on the Ethereum network rather than a coin of its own blockchain. Practically that means transfers are paid for in the network's own currency, and the token's fate is tied to that network as well as to its own project.
