The fear and greed index reduces market sentiment to a single number from 0 to 100. Low values mean participants are frightened and selling; high values mean the market is heated by buying. It is built from nine components. Five describe the coin market itself: momentum (the share of coins above their 50-day average), volatility against its annual level, one-day market breadth, and the 30-day shifts in bitcoin's share and in the stablecoin share. Four describe the market for bitcoin and ether contracts: the funding rate, the change in open interest, the put/call ratio of options and implied volatility. The index describes what has already happened and says nothing about what comes next.

Crypto fear and greed index — an indicator calculated by TradeAlmanac. As of 10 October 2026 its value is 55 out of 100, in the “Greed” zone. Provisional value: the day is not closed yet and the final figure may change. Components — momentum, volatility against its annual level, one-day market breadth, 30-day shifts in bitcoin's share and in stablecoins' share, the perpetual funding rate, the change in open interest, the put/call ratio of options and implied volatility. What it is measured on — About 300 crypto assets; volatility is measured on the 50 largest, and the derivatives components on bitcoin and ether. 25—44FearThe market is nervous and buyers are cautious.
45—54NeutralNeither panic nor euphoria.
55—74GreedBuying is eager and the risk of overheating grows.
75—100Extreme GreedEuphoria. The higher the value, the more often a correction followed.
